Annual Congregational Meeting

November 14, 2010

The annual congregational meeting of Holy Trinity of Bellerose was held on Sunday, November, 14, 2010. Pastor Gary Schulz opened the meeting with a prayer.

Ed Unz, President of the congregational council, call the meeting to order at approximately 10:10 am in the church sanctuary where 46 members gathered.

Tellers were appointed (Ken Henyan, Richard Kunz, Nancy Cutrone and Susan Downey) should a ballot count become necessary.

The minutes from the meeting held on November 15, 2009 were read by President Unz. Correction – Nancy Cutrone’s name to be added to member’s leaving council. A motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the minutes as corrected.

Motion to accept reports by standing committees made by ken Henyan, seconded by Carol Robinson and unanimously accepted.

Pastor’s Report  

  • Average attendance is about 66 people per week.
  • Youth group has offered to help more in community.
  • Special thanks expressed to Joan Best for her service during her hard time.
  • Council has proposed a purchase of a columbarium to preserve and display ashes of members.
  • Carol Kohler has left her estate to HTLC which includes a co-op in Garden City which is being sold.

Treasurer’s Report  Tom Weickert presented the unaudited treasurer’s report for the nine months ending September 30, 2010 along with the report of the summary of all accounts as of September 30, 2010. This included current investment accounts and current designated accounts. The proposed 2011 budget was briefly explained line by line.   A motion was made by Ken Henyan, seconded by Bill Robinson and passed to receive the treasurer’s report and proposed budget as presented.

                Marilyn Weickert raised a question if next year the budget could be presented to the congregation earlier for consideration. It was agreed that council and budget committee will look into ways this can be done.

Expenses $186,025 Income $142,550. The council will prepare an audited report for the twelve month period ending December 31, 2010 and present to the congregation for approval at a meeting in February or early March, 2011.

Nominations for Council Members: New members Evelyn Kimmich, Kathy Gallagher, Webster Leung and Noah Matson (youth) were nominated and members for a renewed term were Karen Campbell, Richard Albrecht.  There were no additional nominations from the floor and accordingly a motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the nominations. Joan Best and Marilyn Lund are outgoing members and served on the 2010 nominating committee.

New Business:

Cheryl Albrecht asked for an update for the Air Conditioning. Proposals are being collected and so far run from $6,500 to $8,000.

Closing: No further business was raised and therefore a motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 10:50 am with the Lord’s Prayer.
